The General Secretary of National Union for Reform (NUR)

At the same time that it didn't take another well known opposition leader, but three minutes to clear customs and immigration in Benina airport, it took me no less that an hour and a half to enter my beloved country through Tripoli International Airport. When I first left my country I was forcibly deployed as a civilian doctor with the Libyan forces in Chad, where I became a prisoner and then an exile in Europe for the last two decades. In the airport they took my passport and told me to pick it up later from their main office in Tripoli. I was interviewed by a number of agents from the airport's many security agencies who all promised me a receipt for my passport but never give me one.

After a few weeks of my return to my country, I wrote to Libya-Watanona.com and Libya-almostakbal.com, expressing my thoughts in a manner never crossing the factual peaceful line I followed since my days in exile. But, the Internal Security Agency ordered me to report to their Tripoli's office. Since I wasn't home when they came, I assured them through an individual I knew that I plan to travel early next week to Tripoli to appear before them and collect my passport which they had seized. Midnight November 2nd I was surprised when two internal security agents came to the family home and told me to report to the Gheryan Internal Security office in the morning.

Regardless of what will come out of these irrational acts of the Security Services, I want to stress the following:

1-This agitation and shakedown is absolutely repugnant and unacceptable, as all what I expressed doesn't transcend my right to opinion which the regime purport to protect in all its pronouncements and published laws.

2-Demanding our rights and the rights of our people in freedom and multipart democracy, respect for human rights and basic freedoms of thought, opinion and expression as well as freedom of association and organizing, in addition to freedom to assemble and protest, are all fundamental rights that there can be no negotiation or haggling about them, irrespective of the consequences.

Long live Libya our homeland, with liberty for all
